How to Plan a Galentine's Day to Remember

How to Plan a Galentine's Day to Remember

Ahhh, the month of February. The air is cool, your favorite flannel shirt is stretched across your chest, and love is in the air—or at least it should be. That's right: It's time for Galentine's Day! This year, make all of your dreams come true by planning a day full of fun (and maybe some romance?) with your best friends. We've rounded up a list of ideas that will make this occasion one to remember!

Get cute glassware.

No Galentine's Day would be complete without cute glassware. Nothing says glamour like stemware and Sister.ly Drinkware has many options for your Galentine's Day party.   Our glasses are for those who appreciate the finer things in life and know how to have fun. Nothing says "girls just wanna have fun" like our Bella Collection of drinkware.  The Pink Champagne Flutes and Pink Coupe Glasses are as stunning as their name. Great for entertaining guests or a pour of chilled prosecco to celebrate a special occasion.  These glasses are Lead and BPA-free, and they're also elegant and classy, which is so important when serving a cocktail or mocktail in them. This stemware will make for a stellar addition to your Galentine's Day.

Enhance your cocktail or mocktail with glasses from Sister.ly Drinkware, because it's not just about deliciousness—it's also about fun!

Make some cocktails.

Now that you have your glasses, you need to figure out what to put in them. That's where the fun begins! Making cocktails is a great activity for Galentine's Day, especially if you have a lot of friends coming over. There are only two rules: 1) use good quality alcohol and 2) use fresh ingredients.

I recommend using vodka or tequila, but if you're feeling adventurous and like to experiment with different spirits then go right ahead! Once you've decided on the booze, start mixing up some drinks. A few classics include Sex on the Beach (vodka + peach schnapps + cranberry juice + orange juice), Bloody Mary and Moscow Mule (both vodka-based). If those don't sound appealing then try something like Spiked Apple Cider or Mocktail Punch — both are easy to make and come together in minutes!

For a fancy twist on an old classic, fill some Champagne flutes with sparkling apple cider and garnish with cinnamon sticks and apple slices. Or opt for a more modern take: make your own cocktail by combining sparkling wine with ginger ale or lemon-lime soda.

For those who prefer beer over liquor, consider making one of these creative drink ideas:

  • Gertie’s Grit (beer + grapefruit juice)
  • Cranberry Beer Cocktail (beer + cranberry juice)

    Make it a potluck.

A potluck is one of the best ways to make sure that everyone can bring something, and it's a great way for people to try new foods. Plus, you'll get a chance to see what you and your friends are good at cooking! If you're worried about only having dessert on the menu, consider throwing a brunch. It's easy to make pancakes or waffles ahead of time so all you have to do is get up early on Saturday morning and throw everything in the oven.

If there are certain foods that some people always bring (like pasta salad), maybe they should be responsible for bringing them again this year!

Pick a theme and find your perfect Galentine's Day decorations.

You can get pretty creative with your decorations. Some ideas include:

    • Painting the words “Galentine’s Day,” “Date Your Galentine!” or other fun phrases on boxes and bags to help your guests transport their gifts.
    • Getting fun, bold, and unique decorations that will help you celebrate the day (like these fun party supplies)
    • Pasting pictures of all of your friends at different stages in their lives on the wall as an homage to how great they are, or creating wall art out of things like candy hearts and stickers that have special meaning for you and your besties.

Watch a classic romantic comedy (or not).

    • You can watch a romantic comedy, but it doesn't have to follow that particular formula.
    • You can watch a horror movie, but it doesn't have to be scary.
    • You can even watch a documentary or animated feature, if you're feeling quirky! The point is that every galentine's day should be different—and that means there are no rules about what kind of movie will make the best fit for your night in.

    Have a spa night.

There are so many ways to be pampered and treat yourself on Galentine's Day, from getting massages at home to having a girls' night in with wine and chocolate.  A spa day is just what the doctor ordered for a relaxing night. If you're feeling fancy, make your own spa kit by putting together a basket filled with things like face masks, bath bombs, or candles. You can even throw in some snacks for the road!

Go for a hike around your town or neighborhood.

Hiking is a great way to get some fresh air, exercise and explore the outdoors. If you don't have any friends who hike, try hanging out with a co-worker or neighbor who enjoys getting outside as much as you do. You can also go alone—there's nothing wrong with spending time by yourself!

Once you know where you're going and how long it will take to get there, pack water (and snacks if necessary), wear comfortable shoes, and be prepared for any weather conditions that may arise. Make sure to bring your phone so that when it comes time for a selfie at the top of the mountain (or hill) you'll be ready! Then take lots of pictures and share them on Instagram or Facebook so all your friends can see what a great time they missed out on—even though they really didn't miss anything at all because they weren't there with you!

    Have a game night.

We love a good activity, and there's no such thing as being too old for games. Plan a fun game night for you and your favorite ladies!

You have plenty of options when it comes to games, so choose what works for you. If your girlfriends love video games, set up some consoles, make sure that you have enough controllers, and find a few multi-player games so no one feels left out.

If not, there's nothing wrong with classic card games or board games. Pick something that will get everyone talking.

For smaller gatherings, we love playing more "classic" games like Monopoly. It might seem boring, but once everyone starts to get competitive, it turns into a riot.

Bonus tip: turn it into a drinking game

For large gatherings, opt for party games that can include more players. Cards Against Humanity is a great option, but there are plenty to choose from. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, go to your local thrift shop and pick whatever looks interesting.

But making memories with friends is our most favorite thing ever!

You know what's better than getting a fancy new gym membership, or that pretty pink dress you've been eyeing? Making memories with your best friends—the ones you trust and love the most, who have seen you at your worst and still believe in you.

I don't know about you, but I can't remember a time when I didn't want to spend every waking moment with my friends. We'd stay up late laughing and gossiping; we'd talk about everything from boys to what it means to be an adult (and our favorite ways to break the rules).

As we got older, our relationships changed. Some friendships faded away while others grew stronger. Our personalities diverged: some of us were more introverted while others were bolder; some of us preferred quiet nights at home while others loved going out on adventures together. But no matter how different we became or how far apart we lived from each other, nothing could change the fact that these women were my rocks for so many years—and always will be!

    Conclusion

And that’s it! You now have all the knowledge you need to plan a Galentine’s Day party that will be memorable for years to come. Whether you choose to go with some of our suggestions or create your own unique celebration, we hope you have an unforgettable time with the women in your life.
